Growing up, I hated school. I wasn’t a bad kid, I just literally had zero interest. It was probably because I have a severe learning disability, dyslexia. Still today I only read on a fourth or fifth grade level. I would sit in science class with my knee bouncing up and down staring at the classroom door. Above the door was a clock that always seemed frozen… the 45 minute science class felt like four hours long. Today, I wake up at 4 AM, I go to bed at 10 PM, and the day is gone in a snap. It’s so funny when you find your passion, your oxygen, your addiction – time doesn’t even exist.
My father was a union construction worker and told me, “School’s not for everybody; if you learn a trade you’ll always be able to feed your family.” My mother was an educator, and said “School school school.” My senior year in high school I got offered a full scholarship to play football in college and was at the cross roads. Mom was on one shoulder and Dad was on the other shoulder. I didn’t know what to do. I thought about it, and prayed on it for a few days. I woke up one morning and realized every night I went to bed dreaming about football and every morning I woke up and it was the first thing I thought about. I knew this is what I needed to do.
I received the full scholarship to play football at Stony Brook University where I graduated to two-time all American. By senior year I had my second knee surgery and realized I wasn’t going to the NFL. We were in the top of the real estate market in 2005, economy was racing couldn’t get a job anywhere my dad already turned my bedroom into a billiards parlor so going back home wasn’t an option. A buddy of mine on the football team gave me this book that changed my life forever – Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. The book talks about real estate entrepreneurship and passive income. I realized that book was written for me. I ran out and bought a two family house. At that time my beautiful wife and I lived upstairs and we rented out the downstairs. After doing the expenses I realized we were living there making about $100 a month. I had the “Aha” moment. The lightbulb went off. I was going to start buying rental properties.
Long Island‘s number one real estate agent, The Sales Giant, only got his real estate license for one reason – to be an inside player. I saw this business as a part-time job. My first year I sold three houses to friends and family, then 10… then 20… then 100. Now, my team and I consistently sell 200 plus homes a year and have been the number one real estate agent and number one team consistently year after year after year. The goal is to make every client feel like our only client, but also do it at the highest level possible, with more resources, exposure, energy, and excitement than anyone else in the industry. Every dollar that my wife and I have been blessed with goes right back into real estate. There’s no fancy cars, you’ll see me driving around in a 2010 Camry or 2004 Honda Pilot with my face on it. In my opinion you can’t have a high-level advisor that isn’t all in and totally obsessed with what they’re doing. My clients know me as high-octane, high-protein, and super aggressive.
